چکیده

Agroindustrial derivatives are alternative nutritional sources employed in bioprocesses that reduce costs and corroborate with social sustainability. In this study, alternative carbon (sugarcane juice, sugarcane molasses and soy molasses) and nitrogen sources (corn steep liquor, soy protein and whey protein) were evaluated for hyaluronic acid production by Streptococcus zooepidemicus ATCC 39920. The medium containing sugarcane molasses archived high yield of hyaluronic acid (0.066 g.g -1 ), when compared to the medium composed of glucose or sucrose. The replacement of yeast extract by soy protein was also effective for the production of the polymer resulting in 0.219 g.L -1 . In general, the organic acids production was also evaluated and the results showed that the main metabolic products were lactate. In contrast, the acetate synthesis was detected only in the medium containing yeast extract. This study showed that sugarcane molasses is a promising carbon source for the hyaluronic acid production. This is the first study in which a culture media containing sugarcane molasses, a cheap substrate extensively produced in Brazil, has been successfully used for the microbial hyaluronic acid production.

Screening for pharmaceutically important exopolysaccharide producing Streptococci and partial optimization for EPS production

Capsular exopolysaccharide, hyaluronic acid produced by Streptococcus equi subsp. zooepidemicus, carries high importance in pharmaceutical as well as biomedical field. In this direction, isolation and screening for exopolysaccharide producing streptococcus from nasopharynx of horses from Maharashtra and its neighbouring place was carried out. Out of 70 samples, none was observed to be Streptoco...

Production of Hyaluronic Acid by Streptococcus zooepidemicus on Protein Substrates Obtained from Scyliorhinus canicula Discards

This work investigates the production of hyaluronic acid (H) by Streptococcus equi subsp. zooepidemicus in complex media formulated with peptones obtained from Scyliorhinus canicula viscera by-products. Initially, in batch cultures, the greatest productions were achieved using commercial media (3.03 g/L) followed by peptones from alcalase hydrolyzed viscera (2.32 g/L) and peptones from non-hydr...

Cheese whey: A cost-effective alternative for hyaluronic acid production by Streptococcus zooepidemicus.

This study focuses on the optimisation of cheese whey formulated media for the production of hyaluronic acid (HA) by Streptococcus zooepidemicus. Culture media containing whey (W; 2.1g/L) or whey hydrolysate (WH; 2.4 g/L) gave the highest HA productions. Both W and WH produced high yields on protein consumed, suggesting cheese whey is a good nitrogen source for S. zooepidemicus production of HA...

Modeling and simulation of a structured model for analysis of hyaluronic acid fermentation by Streptococcus zooepidemicus under aerobic and anaerobic batch conditions

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a linear high molecular weight glycosaminoglycan polymer made up of repeating units of β (14) N-Acetylglucosamine and β (13) D glucuronic acid. Producing large quantities of high molecular weight polymer with very low dispersity of molecular size is seen as a niche in a huge hyaluronic acid world market and microbial derived product could effectively fit into it. This ...
